When: November 2-3, 2007. Starts at 6:45 Friday evening, ends at 8:00 Saturday evening
Where: Camp Thunderbird, near Olympia, WA. Directions and map are online at http://campthunderbirdbsa.org/?page=directions.
Accommodations: We sleep in the camp cabins, sort of like dormitories. There are separate cabins for men and women. You can leave Saturday after the closing or early Sunday. No breakfast is provided on Sunday. No supper is provided on Friday, either.
Scout leaders deserve trained leaders.
Course Directors:
You must attend for your course to be valid. Moreover, the conference will help you do your job better. (If you just cannot attend, check with the Area Wood Badge Coordinator, Ken Hemmelman, 509-467-6242, hemmel@icehouse.net.
Assistant Course Directors (which is all other staff):
This conference is for all Wood Badge staff. There are sessions meant for you. The conference includes breakout sessions not only for the directors, but also for most other staff.
Get information, perspective, guidance, and tips for doing your course job better. Lots of good information on presenting Wood Badge. There will be breakout sessions to focus on specific roles:
- Troop guides & assistant scoutmasters for troop guides
- Quartermasters & assistant scoutmasters for support
- Senior patrol leaders and assistant scoutmasters for program
- Scribes
- Course directors
If you expect to be on staff, as an adult or a youth, you are welcome. Check with your NYLT Scoutmaster about attending.
The conference lets you visit with other training chairs and get their ideas, and share your successes. Also you will be able to visit the Wood Badge and NYLT sessions.
