Measuring the quality of water is a complex operation. It is heavily influenced by the level of conductivity or hardness. The preferred level is the number 500 or below. The level is tested periodically at locations along the North Canadian River. The lake is best filled after measurable rainfall. Because Lake Hefner is an end lake and must always be filled, it is for boaters to understand that there will be times each year when the water level may be lower than desirable for pleasure boating. Refer to the LHBOA FAQ's page to read further information about the fluctuating water levels. The message above is a service provided by the LHBOA, working closely with the Water Department to supply boaters with timely information.
