Wet/Dry Stall Rental Permits expire April 30, 2006, and new permits will be effective May 1, 2006. Please come in during the above hours to meet this deadline.
The officers are not familiar with the renewal process; therefore, I will be renewing over 600 permits. The renewal process takes about 15 minutes per permit. You may find lines and a waiting period. Please plan accordingly.
As per city ordinance, you will need the following four documents for renewal.
1. Your title or CURRENT (June 2005) state registration receipt for proof of ownership. City ordinance 38-247. Dry stall and wet stall permits. b) Provisions for rental requires, in part, that "Before being issued a rental permit for a wet stall or dry stall, the permittee must demonstrate ownership of the boat to be docked or stored in that stall...A rental permit will only be issued to a boat owner WHOSE NAME APPEARS AS OWNERS ON THE BOAT TITLE of the boat to be stored or docked in that stall.
No stall rental permit shall be issued: to any person whose name DOES NOT appear on the boat title to be stored or docked in that stall..." (Capitalization added.)
A boat title in the name of a business/company is permissible; however, business affiliation must be established. A business card with your name printed on the business card is preferred. If you do not have a business card with your name printed on the business card, please call me at 843-4976 for suggestions of other business/company records that may be acceptable.
2. The annual boat permit. You will need an annual boat permit for each boat for which you rent a stall. For example, if you own four boats and rent one dry stall and you occasionally put each of the four boats on the water sometime during the year, you will need four annual boat permits. One annual boat permit does not cover all your boats - one annual boat permit per boat. The annual boat permit goes/stays with the boat. The OK numbers on the annual boat permit must match the OK numbers on the boat/title/registration receipt. The OK numbers and annual registration stickers, i.e. 2006, 2008, on your boat(s) are to be maintained throughout the year. Annual boat permits are valid for one year from the date of purchase. For instance, if you have an annual boat permit that you purchased on May 2, 2005, and it is, therefore, valid until May 2, 2006, you do not need to purchase another annual boat permit just for renewal time in April. You may bring in the annual boat permit dated May 2, 2005, to renew in April. However, you will need to remember to purchase a new annual boat permit by May 2, 2006.
3. A check, money order or cashier's check. Cash and cards are not admissible. The check will be used either for payment in full or be voided for the Automatic Bill Crediting (ABC) plan. If you were on the ABC plan last year and provided a blank check to be voided, you will still need to bring another blank check to be voided for this year. Deposit slips are not acceptable. Checks, money orders and/or cashier's checks are made payable to the City of Oklahoma City.
4. Your driver's license for photo identification. If you do not have your driver's license, a state issued and/or your employment photo ID or your birth certificate AND social security card are acceptable.
You can expedite the renewal process by making sure you have all of the necessary and correct documentation with you and readily available.
In addition to the above four documents, you need to make sure that:
¤ You re-registered your boat in June 2005 for 2006. If you did
not, you need to do that BEFORE you come to the
patrol station to renew you Permit.
¤ The orange 2006 or red 2008 state decals are affixed ON your boat.
¤ The OK numbers are on your boat in accordance with state law.
¤ You are not using tires to protect and/or secure your boat.
¤ Your boat and/or trailer are in the assigned slip/stall.
If you would like to check in advance to see if you might fall into one of the above categories, please feel free to give me a call at 843-4976. You will only be allowed to renew your permit in April if the above conditions are met.
The City has provided a fact sheet to address many of the common rental questions. The fact sheet contains policies adopted by the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Director and the Water Director as provided in the city ordinances. The fact sheet also details the ABC payment option and enrollment requirements. Your review of these policies will help us more effectively administer the public facilities and avoid misunderstanding.
If you have any questions or concerns or need further explanation regarding anything in this letter or the fact sheet, as always I will be glad to hear from you at 843-4976 or you may come by the patrol station during NORMAL (meaning anytime other than April) working hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you decide to come by the patrol station, you might want to call me in advance so that I will know to expect you and be able to assist you.
Happy boating!
