Hello Unit Leaders,
 

We have started the planning of the 2010 Winter Freeze out. Below is the list of stations and events that will be held at the Freeze out this year. There is also a brief description of each station / events. Please note that details and rules about the station may change. You will also notice there is a theme about the stations. “ HOLIDAYS” Yes this years Freeze Out theme is all about the holidays. As a bonus I would like to see every Troop decorate their campsite in a holiday season. ( Christmas, July 4th, Halloween or some new holiday you create)

Sled race event: Patrols will race their sled for time on a 1 lap course. Each Patrol will have a member in the sled at all times. The type of sleds that will be allowed will be determined at a later meeting.

Halloween Sculpture event: Make a snow sculpture at your camp site. This could be a Troop or Patrol activity. If there is no snow build a sculpture out of leaves or branches.

Thanksgiving Day event: Dutch oven cook off.

Catapult: Each Patrol will build a Catapult at a Troop meeting or Patrol meeting before the Freeze out. The Catapult must be able to fit inside a milk crate with a top. A large Marshmallow will be the object to be launched. Distance and accuracy will be the factors that decide the winner. (This station needs a holiday name)

Flag Day: Lash a Flag pole together and do a Flag raising and closing ceremony.

Labor Day : Move and re-stack a pile of firewood.

Patriots Day: Each patrol will be given a message to relay. Details are still being worked on at this time.

Easter Egg Hunt: This will be compass or orienteering station. Details are still being worked on at this time.

Independence Day: Fire starting station. Details are still being work on at this time.

April Fools Day: This will be a problem solving station. The problems to be solved are unknown at this time.

Groundhog Day: Each Patrol will be required to build a shelter. How and what size is TBD.
 

As always we are looking for Troops to pick a station to organize and run it. The following stations have already been taken:

Troop 4 Hopkinton- Sled race and April Fools day
Troop 1 Hopedale- Groundhog Day
Troop 2 Marlborough - Catapult
Troop 2 Milford- Labor Day and registration table
Troop 100 Westborough- Easter egg hunt

 

The next planning meeting will be on Tuesday November 24th. @ 7pm. We will be meeting at the Forbes building on West Main St. in Westborough in room 24. (This is above the police station)

If your Troop is going to attend the Freeze out, you or someone from your Troop should plan on attending this meeting.
