Thomas Kubota Honor Award
The late
Thomas Kubota was an outstanding and dynamic Scouting leader who
served as a District Commissioner and a District Committee Chairman
in the Thunderbird District during the 1990’s.
During
that time there was a movement within the Chief Seattle Council to
merge our small central Seattle area district with a much larger
suburban district. As the District Committee Chairman using his
strong administrative skills and devotion to serving the youth of
our community, Mr. Kubota led a grassroots effort to prevent the
assimilation. His actions preserved our distinctively diverse
Thunderbird District and solidified a generation of strong leaders
to guide Thunderbird District into the future
This
Thunderbird District award is to honor Thomas Kubota’s vision of the
district as an unique and vibrant entity. A typical candidate will
demonstrate significant administrative skills in the performance as
a Thunderbird District leader. The candidate should demonstrate the
ability to encourage the service of other adult leaders as well as
possess the vision to the achieve long-range goals in which the
youth of our community will benefit.
The
Thomas Kubota Honor Award is awarded by nomination and presented
at the annual Thunderbird District Unit Leaders’ Recognition
Dinner.
