 Eagle Advancement

 and Review Process

1.      The Eagle Scout Board of Review Chairman’s contact information is:

Mr. Dick Willy
10624 Rainier Ave S
Seattle WA 98178-2737
Home: (206) 772-1228
Email: rdwmcw@comcast.net

2.      Scouts need to call Mr. Willy to have the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project plans reviewed and approved for the District/Council.

3.      When the leadership service project is completed, the scout must photocopy the Leadership Service Project Workbook (for safe keeping) and mail the signed original project workbook to Mr. Willy. The scout may bring additional material, such as photographs, to the Eagle Scout Board of Review. Do not mail them unless they are securely fastened within the project workbook.

4.      Completed Eagle Scout applications are turned into the Chief Seattle Council office, 3120 Rainier Ave S (hand-delivery is best):

a.          When approved, the Council office will mail the application directly to Mr. Willy.

b.           If there is a problem (application not approved), it will be mailed back to the scout with an explanation. The scout will then work with Troop leaders to correct the problem; he then re-files the Eagle Scout application.

5.        References:

a.      The scout will ask people to provide references (see application).

b.      When the people accept, the scout will provide the reference form (in Eagle Scout packet) AND a stamped envelope addressed to Mr. Dick Willy AND with a return address also to Mr. Dick Willy. This will ensure the reference provider that his or her comments are held in confidence; that is, the scout will never see them unless the person chooses to give it to the scout.

●   The scout MUST follow up with the reference providers regularly (for example, every two weeks) to be sure the references have been submitted and to provide support if necessary.

6.      When the Eagle Scout application, Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook, and references are all received by Mr. Willy:

a.      Mr. Willy will call the scout to determine possible date and times for the Eagle Scout Board of Review.

b.      Mr. Willy will recruit an Eagle Scout Board.

c.      Mr. Willy will then call the scout to tell him when and where to meet.

7.      After the Eagle Scout Board of Review the successful applicant will receive the Eagle Scout Leadership Project Workbook and the signed Eagle Scout application back.

a.      The scout should photocopy the Eagle Scout application, then hand-deliver the original to the Chief Seattle Council office (3120 Rainier Ave S, Seattle). The Council office will forward it to the National BSA office.

b.      References will be destroyed after the Board of Review.
