In February 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate 100 years as an organization. Founded as an outlet to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a participating citizen and leader, BSA has more than fulfilled its mission. Today, as we celebrate our first 100 years, we not only reflect on our rich history, but lay the foundation for a strong future, as well. Learn More...
Please check back here often for dates and information on local 100 Year commemorative events in our District.
New Fall Training Schedule
The illustrious District Training Committee has posted the Fall 2009 Training Schedule. See the District Training Site for details. Progams begin in October so get it on your unit calendars today.
What's New
- -- March 2009 --
- Attention All Packs !!! - Please have a representative from your Pack attend the next Roundtable to pick up Day Camp packets. The meeting is the second Thursday of the month at 7pm at the First Christian Church in Port Orchard (click here for a map). See you there. Any questions please contact Pat Pavlicek.
- The National BSA has a new Medical Form that will replace the old medical forms and will be mandatory beginning January 2010. Anyone planning on going to Philmont, National Jamboree, or even Day Camp or Cub Scout Summer Camp should be aware of these new forms and start using them now. The new forms will be valid for 12 calendar months. The old medical Class 1 & 2 and Class 3 forms are still acceptable UNTIL January, 2010. This is an editable PDF form that you can TYPE ON AND SAVE to your computer (using Adobe Acrobat Reader). Just update it every year. Check it out HERE. If you have questions, contact a member of the district commissioner staff.
- The National BSA has a new form for the BSA Adult Leader Application. We've designed a form that you can TYPE ON AND SAVE to your computer (using the FREE software Adobe Acrobat Reader). You can use it year-after-year! Check it out HERE. The new form supercedes all others and must be used for all new applications. There will be additional hardcopies of the application available in the unit re-charter packets. On the new form, page 4 and page 5 must be turned into the Council. If you have questions, contact a member of the district commissioner staff.
- There is also a brand new (2008) Eagle Scout Rank Application. There are a few changes to the form (including how many hours you spend on your Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project). Check out the form that you can type on here. You can even save your work to your hard drive to work on in multiple sessions! (By the way, our form is better than others you may find on the web because you don't need to tab between characters and you can save it to your hard drive.)

District Newsletter
Dianna Fife has worked hard to produce the first district newsletter we've had since May Weillington did them about a year ago. You can access the current newsletter at the link on the right or by clicking here. You can submit articles or article ideas to the newsletter by writing an e-mail to SinclairNews@yahoo.com. This month the newsletter features articles about our Silver Beaver receipient, Bruce Quaintance; upcoming events such as the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby; a Cook's Corner; a Craft Korner; campfire stories; travel guides; and uniform knot instructions.
