Boy Scouts

Boy Scouting. A year-round program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. (Boys also may become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Cub Scouting Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old.)

Similarities and Differences between Boy Scouting, Venture, Varsity Scouting, and Venturing

Roundtable

At every Boy Scout break session, we will cover various topics of interest to the group.  During our first meeting of the new year (September) we spend some time brainstorming meeting topic ideas that we want to focus on during the coming year.  Here are the upcoming topics as voted on by the group for the 2009-2010 year

Oct – MB Counselors, Parent Involvement, Recruitment
Nov – Webelos Open House
Dec – Fund Raising, Buying Scout Equipment
Jan – Disability Awareness, ADHD, Scoutmaster Minute
Feb – Drug and Alcohol Abuse (Parent & Scout)
Mar – High Adventure, Safety Afloat, Safe Swim
Apr – Young Scouts, Trail to First Class
May – Troop Leadership Positions Running a PLC, Training
June – Dutch Oven Competition, Time to Eat

Also at each meeting, we will have a volunteers present the following:

My Favorite Meal: Food prep and cooking for backpacking
