Annual Webelos Outreach OutingNovember 19-20, 2011This outing is one that our troop organizes every year to provide an outreach to the Packs in the area around our Troop. Webelos I and II dens are both invited - we even cover the camping fee and serve up dinner Saturday night! A few of the Webelos activity badges and Arrow of Light requirements require visiting a Boy Scout troop or going on an outing with a troop. That is what our annual Webelos Outreach outing is all about. We reserve campsites for this event. Our Scout leadership also plans some stations that help teach Webelos some fun outdoor camping skills, play some games, have an evening campfire program, etc. Its always a lot of fun! Plus, dens are encouraged to spend the night too. Sunday morning after breakfast, our Boy Scouts lead an interfaith service or "Scouts Own" service and then we break camp. Time and weather permitting, we will play some field games -- always a big highlight of the weekend! Our troop's goal for this is to try to put on a program that Webelos would enjoy and help give them a better taste and feel for what Boy Scouts are all about. Hopefully, when it comes time for them to bridge over, this will be one small way that our Troop can help to increase the number of Cub Scouts in our area that decide to continue on to one of the Boy Scout Troops in our area. Here are some useful planning documents for our Webelos guests
