Summer Camp with Troop 570

Boy Scouting is designed to take place outdoors. It is in the outdoor setting that Scouts share responsibilities, and learn to live with one another. The skills and activities practiced at troop meetings come alive with purpose. Being close to nature helps Boy Scouts gain an appreciation for the beauty of the world around us.

Summer Camp is one of the single-most important events that a Boy Scout can attend. It can be one of the great experiences in the life of a Scout. Each program, merit badge, and evening campfire will linger in memory for years to come. Scouts will have the opportunity to put their outdoor skills to the test, to work with one another and to make life long friends. There is much to experience, to learn, and to enjoy on a summer camp adventure.

Troop 570 attends summer camp every year. We typically will go to a camp in the Chief Seattle Council one summer then out of council the next.

Summer  2010 at Camp Easton (Inland Northwest Council)

August 1 - 7, 2010

Troop 570 is attending Camp Easton, on the eastside of picturesque Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, during the week of August 1st through August 7th. All new scouts are strongly encouraged to attend!

Camp Easton is located on Gotham Bay (Drum Beater Bay) on the eastside of picturesque Lake Coeur d’Alene – considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. With 383 acres of forested camp and ¾ miles of beautiful lake front, it is the perfect venue for Boy Scout resident camp. Lake Coeur d’Alene provides the ideal waterfront for a comprehensive aquatics program. Water-skiing, motor boating, sailing, kayaking, canoeing and rowing are just the beginning. Camp Easton also offers snorkeling, SCUBA, the ever popular water trampoline and the 24-man “war canoes”.

In addition to a premier aquatics program, Camp Easton offers a variety of shooting sports to include archery, rifle, and shotgun. The dining hall will provide campers with great meals and mealtime program. Scouts will appreciate the variety of merit badge classes offered and new Scouts can get started on their trail to Eagle at the Eagle Quest area. Camp Easton truly has the program for everyone in your troop.

Camp will provide food and tarps for ground clothes & shelters. You will camp at a BLM campground with water and restrooms.

Camp Wide Games

FUN! FUN! FUN! Friday afternoon is that special time we set aside for just gettin’ down and lettin’ down our hair. This is the time for CAMP WIDE GAMES! A chance for your Scouts to put into use skills they have learned, compete, and just plain have fun. The staff has cooked up several events between the troops/patrols as well as the ever-popular staff and leader competition.

Campfires

Your week starts out on an upbeat note as staff introduce themselves at opening campfire. Songs and skits top the night to entertain your troop and set the mood for a great week at camp! Wednesday evening is the “Spirit Fire” and inner troop campfires. Friday evening the Camp Easton staff will close the week with a campfire that will keep that “Scouting Spirit” alive and well within you until your next trip to camp.

Eagle Quest

Start your new Scouts on their “Trail To Eagle”! Your Camp Easton staff offers Scouts the opportunity to advance through First Class in our “Eagle Quest” program. A giant step on their “Trail To The Eagle”. Commissioners bring the program to your Scouts and you. Emphasis will be on the learning of skills and scoutcraft required for their rank advancement. “Eagle Quest” will prepare each Scout to reach for the stars!
