Roundtable Camping

Barclay & Eagle Lakes

Hiking, Camping, Fishing & Climbing

It is a 1 1/4 mile hike into Barclay Lake which only gains about 650’ so it is pretty easy and there are numerous campsites.  For those that are strong, a great day hike is up to Stone Lake (more a puddle then a lake) and then on into Paradise Meadows and to Eagle Creek.  From Barclay to Eagle is 3 miles, the first 1 3/4 hiking straight up with an elevation gain of 1,000’.  Paradise Meadows is one of the most beautiful areas in the state and worth the hike.

Directions: Drive US 2 six miles from Index junction.  Turn left at Baring on 635 --Place NE, cross railroad tracks and go 4 1/2 miles on road 6024 to trail head.

Baker Lake

Camping, Hiking, Fishing & Boating

This is a nice hike that follows the shoreline around to the campground which is situated on a point with a nice cove on one side.  The hike is pretty easy with a couple of short hills.  If you go in late September, early October, about a quarter mile before you reach the campsites you can see the Sockeye Salmon stack up in wait to go up stream to spawn.  Water is from the lake (please filter!)  and there is a Scout built wooden toilet.  No camping fee but parking permits are required.

Directions: From Sedro-Woolley, follow State Route 20 east for 16.0 miles to milepost 82. Turn left (north) on the Baker Lake Highway (Forest Service Road #11). Continue for 14.0 miles to the Baker Dam Road and turn right. Drive past the Puget Sound Energy Kulshan Campground and across the Upper Baker Dam. After crossing the dam, turn left on F.S. Road #1107. Follow Road #1107  1.0 mile and look for the trailhead and parking area on the left side of the road.

29 Pines Campground

This is a fantastic place to camp with the Teanaway river next to you and miles of hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing.  This area is teaming with wildlife as well as a fantastic place for rock hounds.  Water is from the river (please filter!) and there are vault toilets.  There is no cost for camping but it is on a first come, first served basis and has lots of campsites.  There are more campgrounds as you keep heading north.

Directions: I-90 east, go through Cle Elum and continue east to the Teanaway River Road, Left of Teanaway River Road and follow north until you reach 29 Pines (about a 20 minute drive)
