Cub Scout Marble Tournament 2004

The Aquila District Cub Scout Marble Tournament was awesome! It was held in the Burien LDS Church gym, which is a very nice facility. Randy Guzzardo and his team ran the event like clock-work. They had around 30 marble rings on the floor before anyone even arrived, and they made short work of checking all the Scouts in.

As it was a district-wide event, there were Scouts from several different Packs in the area. There were around 100 Scouts total, so it was a nice chance to meet and talk with folks from other Packs in our area.

The boys each competed in seven games of Ringer which is one of the most popular competitive marble games. The boys took turns trying to knock out as many marbles as they could in each of the games which lasted five minutes or until all marbles were knocked out, whichever came first. The three boys in each Den (district-wide) with the most marbles at the end of seven games, each walked home with a trophy. Additionally, the three boys with the most marbles overall walked home with even bigger trophies.

The boys in our Den didn't bring any trophies home, but we played "for keeps" so the boys added to their marble collections, and the activity segments look very cool!

Here are a few shots of the boys in our Den:

And here is a wider shot of about half the gym covering some of the Tigers, Wolves, and Bears.
